Oakey undertook a residency through the Nature Festival with ForestrySA in August, spending two weeks at Thomas Hill House on the Cudlee Creek fireground. She immersed herself in the surrounding environment, listening to and learning from the land.
Come along for a cuppa or wine and hear Oakey discuss her time in the hills with Nature Festival Arts Curator Amber Cronin and ForestrySA ranger Luke Hein at Jauma ORGANIC.
As I went for my final hike of the residency, my heart was beating out of my chest. So I lay face down on the ground so the earth could feel it, and I gave thanks to the land for having me.
A huge thank you to @forestrysa@naturefestivalsa @amberrosecronin and @lennan_whiting for making this residency possible, the experience will stay in my heart forever ❤ - OAKEY
