Come discover the nature on our local beaches. Dave a local surf life saver, Accredited Surfing Coach and environmentalist will host a walk from Brighton Jetty to Kingston Park rock reef and back.
You can access short videos (links to the videos will appear below) that will tell you a little bit about each area, what to look for, what you might see,I will try and anticipate questions like ...Are there sharks out there? and I will include footage of the wildlife I have filmed in the local area over the last 6 months
for a self guided tour check out the videos below, make sure you bring sunscreen hat and adequate water.
I would recommend low tide as you are guaranteed small crabs and other little creatures at the rock reef... but
You never know what weather conditions or wildlife will be present. But with some local knowledge and a bit of luck we could expect to see a variety of birds, sand dune habitat plants and animals, crabs, seals, dolphins, stingrays and other ocean creatures.
I will also provide a little information about the significant aboriginal sites in the area and my interpretation of life before colonisation
Note this is Brighton Beach so there will also be dogs.
This is a family and pet friendly nature walk along the beach it can be done anytime - I also welcome people to come and swim, snorkel or paddle along this coast . It is a wonderful gateway to nature and the elements
I support and promote #Take3fortheSea so I will provide some information about the damage plastic and other pollution is causing to our waterways, opinions and commentary on the coastal protection strategies employed along our metropolitan coast.
We definitely only leave foot-prints, so if you bring food and drink (which I encourage, including supporting some of the awesome traders on Jetty Road Brighton and the coffee shops and vans along the coast) or your dog, make sure you are prepared to remove all your own waste.
To attend on Friday 2nd October 2020 it is essential to book online and check in on the day... this is part of Covid-Sfe Plan. This is public space outside - with plenty of room to spread out. Keep in groups that you live with and exercise social distancing. BYO Sanitiser and sunscreen and hat. Do not attend if you are sick.
I also take people on Custom Day Trips where we learn to surf, connect with nature and see some of the best wineries on the Fleurieu
