Located in the heart of industrial Port Adelaide, the relatively unknown Magazine Creek Wetlands provides critically important habitat for a plethora of wildlife including Rakali (Native Water-rat), reptiles and many rare bird species.
Despite the incredible amount of biodiversity at the site, a study completed in early 2023 found that the wetlands are one of the most polluted waterways in the entire city! Plastics in particular are a real problem for our feathered friends as they often become entangled in it or eat it mistaking it for food.
We will be spending a couple of hours picking up rubbish to make sure these precious wetlands stay clean & green!
Please come prepared wearing sunscreen, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a hat, and sturdy footwear. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and a snack to get you through the event. All other PPE and equipment will be provided on site.
