Join artist Fran Callen, as she takes you through experimental drawing and collage techniques, leading into play and exploration with found and recycled materials. Take inspiration from Fran’s Just Add Water artwork on display in The Joinery Gallery to create your own experimental drawings on recycled packaging. You will be guided to play with natural and domestic pigments commonly found in your homes and backyards. Feel free to bring some of your own – such as turmeric, tea, coffee, sand, leaves or beetroot juice...along with some recycled packaging, preferably paper or cardboard!
Fran Callen created Just Add Water in response to her 2019 Country Arts residency to Grindell’s Hut on Adnyamathanha country, Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park, SA. The complete body of work has been exhibited at Yarta Purtli Cultural Centre in Port Augusta and Collective Haunt in SALA 2020, and at Hahndorf Academy in SALA 2021. Fran exhibits prolifically. Her work is regularly shortlisted in national art prizes, recently including the Waterhouse Science Art Prize in 2022, Tatiara, Center of Creative Health and Heysen Art Prizes in 2022 and the Paul Guest Prize for Drawing 2019. She currently works from her studio in Adelaide and teaches drawing and painting at Adelaide College of the Arts and Central School of Art.

All materials provided, but please bring recycled packaging - preferably cardboard or paper.
