Garden Structures, Garlic Baskets with Basketry SA

In this basketry workshop, you will take part in one of the oldest slow crafts, using sustainable fibres from the garden. You will learn how to make a garden climbing frame or bird shelter and or a small hanging basket, and be able to take it home! You will learn how to recognise, harvest, and prepare fibres for these projects.Presented by members of Basketry SA. All materials supplied.

ABOUT US The Fibre Basket Weavers of South Australia officially came together as a group in 1981 under the presidency of Jean Lange, an experienced basketry teacher. The original members were all students of hers who at the time attended the School of Wool and Textiles at the Marleston College of Further Education, as part of the Art and Craft Certificate Course. Our aim, as stated in the original constitution, was 'to revive and foster the art of basketcraft with particular emphasis on local natural fibres found in South Australia, especially those grown in home gardens'.
