Grassy Shadows

Grassy Shadows is a ephemeral drawing workshop exploring native grass landscapes that once heavily inhabited the Adelaide plains.

There are two workshops: Sunday 27 @ 11am & Tuesday @ 10am 29 September

Join Visual Artists Laura Wills and Louise Flaherty in a reflective and celebratory workshop exploring native grass landscapes that once heavily inhabited the Adelaide plains. It investigates the beauty and importance of local endemic grasses by looking closely at specific species and their interconnected relationships. Through this hands-on workshop natural materials will be used to create immersive drawings for a site-specific public space that explore our personal experience of the native plant world.

**Part of the workshop will involve a digital audio-led element, please bring a smart phone or device with internet and headphones. We will easily direct you to the Soundcloud link you will listen to when you arrive. (You do NOT need the Soundcloud app - it can be accessed via any Internet browser)**

All drawing materials will be provided

The majority of the workshop will be drawing and painting on the ground, there will be some sitting/kneeling and some standing up. We will have some cardboard and stools available for people to use if needed.

Workshop all ages but is best suited for ages 6+ (children under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult).

This is an outdoor workshop and will be pending weather.

Grassy Shadows is a part of a larger collabortive project Plant Notes with artists Laura and Louise creating new collaborative work exploring native and threatened Flora from the Adelaide Plains/Kaurna Yerta and the impact of losing plant species from the landscape. www.plantnotes.com.au
