Join us to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day on Long Beach, Coffin Bay. To welcome these amazing birds back to the wetlands and shores of Australia for the summer we will have the first ever viewing of hundreds of flamboyant shorebirds painted by members of the community. Spend some time walking amongst this unique art display and pick up some identification tips to help with sightings of these birds on our shores over summer.
Learn about the amazing flights undertaken by migratory shorebirds to the other side of the world each year and the need to give them some space to feed and rest while they are here without disturbance. The migratory birds will be joined on the beach by some our resident shorebirds painted and real. This is a unique event with the beach given over to the birds for the day.
You can also take the opportunity to explore nearby bush birds and plants on a Yarnbala tour leaving from Long Beach at various times, improve your nature photography skills with “Photographing the nature of our home, Long Beach Coffin Bay” and get a closer look at the nature of Coffin Bay at the "Through the lens" exhibition at the Coffin Bay Hall from Friday 13 October-Sunday 15, check the program for more detail on these events .
