Single gardeners, novice green thumbs and backyard farmers – this one’s for you!
The SA Urban Food Network and Youth Food Movement Australia are combining some summer garden seed sowing with the opportunity to meet like-minded folk, whether it be for love, friendship or fun.
What you’ll actually be doing?
Whether you’re looking to let love bloom or plant the seed of friendship, come cultivate good conversation (with some help from our handy conversation starters!) while keeping your hands busy with some seed sowing speed dating/friending style.
With all seeds and soil provided, you’ll leave this event ready to get your summer garden growing with a friend or two (or a date) in tow.
As YFM is a youth-led and youth-focused organisation, this event is aimed at people aged 18-35, of all genders, LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Stick around after to enjoy some nibbles (included in your ticket) and chat with your new mates.
Why is connecting to food important?
In a time of global change, it’s never been more important to stay connected with one another and with the origins of our food. More often than not, food is at the centre of our social interactions and the decisions we make have the potential to impact the health of our communities and our environment.
With more people, especially younger generations, becoming disconnected with where their food comes from, we believe that connecting people to food is connecting people to nature.
This event aims to connect people to start a conversation around food systems and provide participants with the resources they need to grow their own food.
Presented by the SA Urban Food Network in partnership with Youth Food Movement Australia and Green Adelaide.
