Create a map of a different kind. Rather than a map of the physical space around us we will create maps from the sounds that fill that space, and how they resonate with us.
Sound mapping promotes mindful engagement of the senses with our natural environment. This also supports our experience of curiosity, awe, wonder and discovery in the natural world.
Sound recording applications will be used to support the creation of audio diaries as nature journal activities to accompany the sound maps.
Take your map with you when you leave to include in a Nature Journal, or leave it wth us to display in the exhibition space at The Joinery. An online exhibition of the maps created will also be created.
Reflection questions will be provided to take away to support creating sit spots in other locations, and other nature journaling activities.
This event is held from 2:30 - 4:30, arrive any time during that period and be prepared to spend at least 20 minutes to complete a sound map. Participants are welcome to stay longer if desired and pending COVID restrictions.
This is a child friendly event. Children to be accompanied by an adult.
Groups are also welcome.
