There is a global network of 'microphilantrhopists' called the Awesome Foundation. These groups of 10 people meet every month to decide which awesome person or project to give $1000. That's right, each person chips in $100 and we give away the lot – no strings attached!
The Adelaide chapter of the Awesome Foundation has been doing this since 2014 and we are sooooo excited to bring a festive pitch party to life for the Nature Festival. On this special family-friendly night, we will give away multiple $1000 grants to people doing something awesome that involves nature and the environment.
We want lots of people to come and cheer on our awesome hopefuls, but if you have an idea or an inkling that you need a grand to bring your nature-themed idea to life, then read on!
If you'd like to apply for a $1000 grant, head to our website and fill out the simple form (please remember to mention this relates to the Nature Festival): https://www.awesomefoundation.org/en/chapters/adelaide
We will take applications until Monday 3 October. After this, the trustees of the Awesome Foundation will perform the difficult task of trimming this down to a shortlist of 10 applicants who will be invited to present a 5-minute pitch at our party on 6 October to the assembled crowd.
The Awesome Foundation is committed to funding two grants and we are collecting donations from everyone who can contribute (you will be prompted when you book your ticket or when you arrive on the night). We plan to give away every dollar on the night. We are also talking to some other generous people who might add to the treasure chest!
If you miss the deadline, don't make the shortlist, or if you just feel inspired to pitch on the night, you will still have an extra chance, as you can put your name in the hat for a wild card round.
We have had a few pitch parties over the years and they are wonderful community events full of creativity and celebration. With our friends at the Nature Festival, the Conservation Council of South Australia (who host our fabulous venue at The Joinery) and all of you, we are bound to have a night to remember.
Everyone (with a ticket) is welcome and we might have a few extra special things to announce really soon.
This is gonna be awesome!
