Led by the State Herbarium’s resident weed expert, Chris Brodie, you will take a leisurely stroll around Adelaide Botanic Garden, Botanic Park and along the River Torrens on a tour of useful and poisonous plants. You will discover what plants in the area are particularly beneficial.... and why some are considered so noxious.
There will be lots of opportunities for discussion and questions as Chris shares his expertise and knowledge.
Chris is the Weeds Botanist for the State Herbarium of South Australia and is interested in the naturalised (also known as 'weed') flora of South Australia. He works closely with stakeholders, including Biosecurity SA, Landscape officers and other land managers, to identify, collect and document the naturalised flora of the state.
Chris is the point of contact for anyone with a suspected new weed species that requires confirmation or identification. He is also working on numerous weedy plant groups for the 5th edition of Flora of South Australia.
Meet at the Friends' Gate off Plane Tree Drive, Adelaide Botanic Garden about 10 minutes before the start time. It will go for approximately 90 minutes. Please wear sturdy shoes. See you soon!
