This might just be the start of a new global event trend !
Let's get as many people as possible to do a simultaneous sit in their own local bushland. We'll make it easy - as long as you do it in the same afternoon (Sunday 26/9).
**In case you don't know**
A "Sit Spot" is the act of regularly visiting an area of healthy outdoors and getting to know it by quiet observation.
If you've heard of a Bioblitz - well, it's a bit like that - without the need to know the name of any species....The most important thing is that there are enough interesting animals and plants to keep your attention.
Over time, you get to know the natural landscape and the organisms that inhabit there.
Sit spots are for
* silent personal reflection,
* species observation
* meditation & emotional regulation
* sensory integration (engaging all your 5 senses)
All you need for your own spot - is a place to sit - a few metres square. It can be a lookout, riverbank, picnic spot or nearby scrub. It can be a good sized backyard if you are an inner city dweller.
Some sitters like to take up to an hour in their spot!
BUT - we ask you only to sit for 20 minutes minimum (30-60 minutes even better !) and then spend a little time writing or videoing or sharing your observations, thoughts and feelings with others.
We will have a big Zoom chat afterwards about what we learnt.
A link will be sent to your email upon booking.
