Join Simone Slattery and Anthony Albrecht of the Bowerbird Collective with special guest Eric Avery for an extraordinary celebration of connection to Country.
The ensemble will perform Simone and Eric's original compositions, including the SA Premiere of 'Sacred Medicines / Wirringintungiyil'. Simone's creations have been described as “a delicate and beautiful fusion” and “like being sung to by the country”. With his mesmerising violin loops, contemporary dance and haunting vocals, Eric can summon the elements and leave his audience breathless.
This essential performance draws a curtain on the 2026 Nature Festival, with spectacular sunset views of the Adelaide Plains and the waters of Spencer Gulf.
About the artists:
The Bowerbird Collective makes art nature. Recipients of a 2024 APRA AMCOS Luminary Award, they beat Taylor Swift on the pop charts with an ARIA-nominated album of threatened species calls, and perform 100s of concerts throughout regional Australia and internationally. Their work has been praised by Limelight Magazine as "spectacular".
Eric Avery, Kabi Marrawuy Mumbulla, is a violinist, vocalist dancer and composer from the Ngiyampaa, Yuin and Gumbangirr people of NSW. He works with his family’s custodial songs and his haunting compositions often feature him singing while playing violin, predominantly in the Ngiyampaa language. Quickly gaining an international reputation, Eric has appeared alongside and in association with some of the greatest artists of our time, from Yo-Yo Ma to Tina Arena. He was a 2021 Myer Creative Fellow.

Performance Details
Time: The performance will begin at 6:30pm and last for approximately one hour.
Arrival: Please arrive early, any time in the afternoon, to enjoy the gardens and the food and drink options below.
Location: The concert will take place at the Elms, a natural amphitheatre directly behind the Carrick Hill house.
Food: You are welcome to bring your own food. Rozelle's restaurant on site will be open and serving until 4:30pm.
Drinks: A selection of drinks will be available to purchase from the Garden Terrace Kiosk located next to The Elms from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. BYO alcohol is not permitted at Carrick Hill however you are welcome to bring other beverages and cups.
Seating: We encourage you to bring a picnic rug or your own chairs and sit on the grass. Limited venue seating is available.
Weather: Make sure to pack a warm jacket or a blanket as it can cool down in the evening. In case of wet weather, the concert will be performed indoors at a venue near Carrick Hill, details TBC. Refunds will not be available in the event of a necessary venue change due to wet weather.
