Come for a walk with us to learn about the amazing work being done by volunteers at Semaphore, Largs and Taperoo Dunes.
The Port Environment Centre, Semaphore Largs Dunes Group and Taperoo Dunes Group, invites you to come with us and take a walk along our beautiful coastline, from Semaphore Jetty, past Largs Jetty, to Taperoo Dunes.
Apart from enjoying some fresh sea air and getting some exercise, we’ll have members from the Semaphore Largs and Taperoo Dunes Groups available to explain some of the work that is being done at the different sites and point out interesting plants and wildlife along the way.
We'll split into small groups for the guided walk from Semaphore to Taperoo and wander slowly along the Coast Path (approx 3.3km). We'll arrive at Taperoo around 10:45am. This will be the end of the guided walk. From here, you can then return in your own time back to Semaphore (along the Coast Path or down along the beach), stop in at Largs for lunch or a coffee or arrange for a friend to pick you up from Taperoo.
You are welcome to join us for the whole walk to Taperoo (approx 3.3km one way) or turn around when you've had enough. Just make sure to let your guide know if you are leaving the walk early.
This walk is aimed at adults but may be suitable for families with older children or little ones in pushers. Caution is advised for families with younger children due to the length of the walk. Any children that do attend, must be accompanied by a guardian and be appropriately supervised at all times.
Meet at the Semaphore foreshore, on the grassed area near the Sempahore Jetty. Look for the blue Port Environment Centre flag. Please meet 10 minutes before the session starts so we can get started promptly at 9am.
Bring your own jackets, hats, sunscreen, water bottle and snacks. We recommend you wear appropriate footwear and clothing and dress for the weather.
Please note that this is a walking tour and you will cover around 6.6km in total. Please contact the Port Environment Centre if you have any mobility or access concerns.
We will cancel or postpone the event if the weather forecast shows heavy rain. We will notify you of this via email and sms.
