This engaging workshop offers a friendly introduction to birdwatching, with a focus on recognising local birds by sight and sound. You'll learn practical birdwatching skills, explore ethical birding practices, and discover techniques for observing birds with greater confidence.
Participants will discover how birdsong can be visualised through spectrograms before experimenting with ways to translate sound into visual form. Inspired by bird call recordings, you'll explore watercolours, collage, pencils, and stamps to create a series of illustrated postcards that interpret the unique character of each bird's call.
This workshop is ideal for beginner birdwatchers and anyone wanting to deepen their knowledge of local birds. It is suited to people who are curious about the natural world and interested in building a stronger connection with the birdlife in their local area.
All materials will be provided along with a light morning tea.
No prior birdwatching or art experience is necessary.
