Featuring: The Maes and Naomi Keyte in the outdoor Tree Theatre
'Music flow, people flow, air flow, cloud flow, swamp flow, camp low, star show, fire glow'
Nestled among the trees at the Lot 50K regeneration project, McLaren Vale, Nature Festival invites you to an evening of music and nature connection.
Flow Fest at L50K marks Nature Festival’s first foray into live music programming. This event is a celebration of music’s timeless power to tell stories of connection — to nature, to each other, and to the greater cycles of the natural world.
As the sun sets against the backdrop of the River Red Gums of the Willunga Basin, enjoy live performances from two amazing acts:
Adelaide’s beloved Naomi Keyte and
Victorian duo The Maes, bringing their signature acoustic warmth and heart-melting harmonies.
Before the music kicks off, there will be an optional ecological walk and talk where you can explore the project and hear more about the impacts on the ground (limited spots available for the walk and talk, so get in quick!). Throughout the evening, you’ll also hear from local Gavin Malone, land steward of L50K and the team from Biodiversity McLaren Vale, who are leading inspiring biodiversity regeneration work in the region.
Tickets are $50, with a limited number of camping tickets available for $65 for those who want to stay on and sleep under the stars.
Ecological walk and talk will start at 4 pm for regular ticket holders and 10 am the next day for campers. Music kicks off from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
BYO food, drinks and ground rug or low-level seating; there will be no seating provided, but plenty of lush grass to sit on to make up for it.
-------------------
The Maes bring modern folk to life with lush harmonies and acoustic mastery on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo. Born in Central Victoria, the sisters grew up immersed in a melting pot of music from around the world washed up on stolen land. The Maes are outstanding live, with engaging storytelling and spine-tingling harmonies. The sisters draw their audience in like your sweetest and scariest friend. With echoes of Gillian Welch and The Waifs, there is a timeless luminescence and simplicity to the songwriting and sound of Maggie and Elsie Rigby.
Naomi Keyte uses the vehicle of contemporary folk music to explore multiple ways of connecting: connection to place, connection with others, and connection to personal and collective narratives. An award-winning songwriter and vocalist, Naomi has a deep appreciation for creativity and uses it to bring about change.
With Keyte's intimate and detail-rich lyrics, sensitive yet powerful voice, and her band's intuitive and painterly accompaniment, this collective humbly offers up a truly beautiful set. Drawing inspiration from artists like Big Thief, Maple Glider, Feist, Gillian, Naomi Keyte brings to life songs in a nuanced and singular way. There isn't anyone who sounds quite like this.
All ticket profits will be reinvested in L50K and Biodiversity McLaren Vale to support their ongoing biodiversity regeneration work.
Join us for this inaugural musical offering from Nature Festival, an evening of live performance amongst the reeds. It’s going to be truly magic.
