Our Collaborative Artwork is a workshop that brings together Artists, The Gums Landcare Group and community participants to build a creative piece reflecting a shared love of and commitment to nature.
Grounding us in a day of Community building, Art and reconnection to land, Uncle Ivan will Welcome us to Yerta at 11am.
Then facilitators, Living Ecology Gardens and The Gums Landcare Group will walk you through the process of Creating the artwork:
Participants will receive a hand sewn fabric pocket holding a piece of paper - an envelope of potentiality.
Choose a seed, flower, or fruit from the surrounding North Gums Reserve and learn about its unique characteristics from our facilitators.
Learning more about the plant's unique characteristics will help you sketch your plant in a new, curious light; we encourage you to be as imaginative or exact as you desire when sketching.
Once everyone has finished drawing, we will collectively build a Seed pod made of artworks in fabric pockets, Artists will help suspended them to our spiral Seed pod installation in the centre of the gallery.
Bringing a diverse group of people together to build something thoughtful and curious about nature, the Collaborative Artwork makes science, communication, and art accessible and inclusive to community.
Offering: An Exhibition , a collaboration between twenty contemporary artists producing new works around Nature Festival's theme of seed, poetically connecting audiences to concepts of regeneration, seed sovereignty and wilderness will be Open to everyone to view in the Main Hall gallery.
This Event is accessible and an All ages event, we encourage everyone to get involved in drawing, observing, sewing, sharing plant knowledge.
