The Barossa Bushgardens (BBG) was established in 2001 after the realisation that only 4% of native vegetation was left in the Barossa region and the remaining remnant plants disappearing at an alarming rate. A native seed orchard was established to produce seed and grow native tubestock to be put back into the region. Today, BBG provides not just native plants but lots of information and education about our natural environment. We run workshops with schools, kindergartens and the community and support health and wellbeing with the Food for the Soul Community Garden, Barossa Community Labyrinth and the Dementia Friendly Community Garden. We have artworks displayed in the gardens and visitors can enjoy relaxing walks or ride their bikes along our accessible pathways, exploring the 35 display gardens, including the CFS Fire-wise Garden, Queens Jubilee Garden and many more.
