Come along to the South Australian Museum this Nature Festival as both science and art combine for this exclusive after hours event. Your expert presenters for the evening Ellen Schlobohm (Guildhouse) and Prof. Mike Lee (South Australian Museum) will take you from the beginnings of scientific photography to its pinnacle and guide you through creating your own take home, camera-less photograph.
What to expect on the evening
Professor Mike Lee, an Evolutionary Biologist, will take you on an exclusive after-hours guided tour of this year’s finalists of the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year. Be inspired by the breathtaking natural heritage of the ANZANG region (Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea) and gain a unique insight into the changing nature of our environment and human impact through the camera lens.
Artist Ellen Schlobohm will provide an inspiring, hands-on workshop where creativity and history come together. Guided by Ellen, you will learn the historical photographic method of cyanotypes, and create unique artworks inspired by the world around them. Merging science and art, this camera-less historical technique creates ethereal images with captivating blue hues.
Come with curiosity, leave with a new perspective of our natural world and your own handmade treasure. Everyone welcome – this workshop is suited for beginners or participants with no prior art experience.
