Spend a rewarding morning connecting with nature through bird watching and bushcare in beautiful bushland.
The morning will begin with an engaging bird talk, followed by a guided bird walk where you'll discover some of the fascinating birdlife that calls this area home.
You'll then roll up your sleeves and take part in a hands-on bushcare activity, helping to restore and protect important habitat for native wildlife. Working alongside experienced bushcare volunteers, you’ll help native vegetation thrive by removing invasive weeds and contributing to the ongoing care of this special bushland.
This mindful experience will encourage participants to slow down, observe the natural world, learn about local birds and their habitats, and give back through practical conservation. Whether you're a keen birdwatcher, curious beginner, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, you'll leave with new knowledge and the satisfaction of making a positive contribution.
This activity is suitable for anyone in general good health. Participants should be comfortable walking a short distance on uneven ground and undertaking light bushcare activities that may involve bending, kneeling and squatting. No heavy lifting is required.
Participants will be sent more detailed information about the event and where to meet on site after they register.
Young people aged 17 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This activity is best suited to participants aged 13+.
What to bring on the day:
Suitable clothing (hat, long pants and long-sleeved shirt)
Sturdy, enclosed walking shoes
Reusable water bottle
Drinking water
Folding chair
Binoculars (optional, if you have them)
All bushcare tools, equipment and training will be provided.
NB: There is parking on-site but toilets are located via a 3-minute drive away at Jo Gapper Activity Park, Blackburn Road, Hillbank.
