Explore Bat World

Hosted by
Shane McCann
Hosted by
Shane McCann

We will take participants on a guided tour of our wonderful Flying-Fox Colony and then proceed to watch the spectacular fly-out.

Love Bats? Want to learn more? Then we invite you to join us as we explore the amazing world of Adelaide's incredible Grey-headed Flying-foxes. These animals are incredibly unique and this is an opportunity to learn all about them as we take you on an exciting educational tour of their colony.

The things you thought you knew about Bats, might very well be the opposite!! They are a very misunderstood animal and we will enjoy separating the facts from the myths for you. There is nothing quite like being in the home of our amazing Flying-foxes as we watch them wake and warm up for their nightly fly-out.

After we have toured the colony, we will settle in to watch the nightly fly-out, which can only be described as mesmerizing. We encourage you to bring your picnic rugs, chairs and a picnic so you can relax as the Flying-foxes soar overhead, on the way to their nightly feeding adventures.

We will be there for the entire duration to answer all of your questions. This is a free, family friendly event.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and as always, remember, we are in their home so please respect them and their surrounds. No shouting or loud noises and please take away any rubbish with you.

This event is bought to you by Shane, Jackie and Alison, experienced Flying-fox rescuers, carers and educators.
