An article in Guardian Australia last year was titled "We Basically Live in the Jungle". We have created our Urban Jungle in Felixstow over 29 years. It grows one third of our food while also providing climate control, habitat for frogs lizards and birds, beauty and an exhilarating place to enjoy.
The Mallee Country was widely considered rubbish country when we purchased 53 hectares at Monarto 40 years ago. Now the property is considered an environmental hotspot and a worthy recipient of permanent heritage agreement.
We are caretakers of a nationally endangered plant species – Prostanthera eurybioides – and have worked for over 30 years with botanists to save it from extinction. There is only one other population, 400 km away.
