Cox Creek is integral to Bridgewater and Mount George's identity, belonging, wellbeing and sense of place. Our Creek is the central thread that connects our communities together.
There is a global legal, humanitarian and environmentalist movement that seeks to recognise rivers as living beings, with rights afforded to them as human rights are to us. By recognising rivers as living beings, we can open our imagination to a deeper appreciation and protection of them.
We are asking the community to consider Cox Creek as a living being, and inviting everyone to post the Creek a letter.
The results are words of hope, dreams, grief, gratitude and more.
Letters to our Creek is a temporary exhibition of letters, which will be on display across the Bridgewater township and along Cox Creek. It is our community's response to the Nature Festival theme of Flow.
We invite you to take a walk through our town and along our creek. Letters can be viewed during daylight hours and no tickets are required, though a donation toward Activating Bridgewater Inc. is welcomed. Activating Bridgewater works with local groups to revegetate, protect and celebrate this special place.
