Are you interested in exploring how gender shapes our relationships with the outdoors? Join us for a unique nature-based gathering that blends art, writing and open dialogue. We invite women – including cis and trans women – to share stories, reflect on personal experiences, and connect over the joys and challenges of accessing and celebrating nature.
Hosted by Jessica Wilson, Coordinator of Parks Nature Education with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, this event builds on her 20+ years of experience in park events and accessible nature connection. Following last year’s “Menopause in Nature” session at the Nature Festival, Jessica continues the journey with this inaugural activity focused on gendered perspectives in nature.
Expect an afternoon of:
Creative expression through journaling, sketching or painting
Thoughtful conversation around topics like safety, justice, accessibility, and celebration in nature
Shared stories that deepen our understanding of fair access and nature connection
Jessica reflects: “We’re beginning to see how different experiences—whether shaped by gender, disability, or other factors—impact our connection to nature. This is another piece of the puzzle in understanding how we can make nature truly inclusive.”
This is not a formal NPWS engagement activity—it’s a safe, welcoming space designed to be interactive, reflective, and enjoyable.
