Gemma Rose Brook is an Australian painter whose emotive on-location work explores a hypersensitive and embodied experience of landscape.
Join us at the launch Saturday 27 September 2-4pm.
Her work often hovers between the dimensions of what is both seen and felt. Working from life, her bold compositions, expressive mark-making, and distinctive palette draw on female modernist and expressionist traditions that inform her contemporary gaze.
Whilst in residence, in alignment with the rich South Australian traditions and artists Kathleen Sauerbier and Dorrit Black, Brook questions what it means to be a South Australian female painter.
