Have you ever wanted to know what birds are in your backyard but did not know where to start?
As part of the 2024 Nature Festival, Alexandrina Council is holding several events where participants can connect with our regional birds and the diverse habitats that make up Alexandrina’s landscapes.
Join us for a basic bird identification walk on Hindmarsh Island to introduce you to some of our common local birds, where to find them and teach basic skills to identify them. The walk is suitable for children 9+ years through to adults.
Meet us just before 9am at the car park on Randell Road, next to the Hindmarsh Island Landcare Nursery. Ferryman’s Reserve at the Hindmarsh Island Lookout has uneven walking tracks and requires moderate fitness, good footwear, and suitable clothes. Wear sunscreen, a hat and bring your own binoculars. If it rains, bring an umbrella. Birds will be out even in rainy weather conditions.
